In 2007, we visited the modern abandoned city of Pripyat, Ukraine, located approximately 2 km from the city of Chernobyl (inside of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone) and the site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant disaster. Pripyat formerly had a population of over 50,000 people and was completely abandoned in 1986 due to radioactive fallout and contamination from the reactor's meltdown/explosion. The album art for "Fugue State" consists of photographs from the city of Pripyat. More photographs from both Pripyat, Chernobyl, and other parts of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone can be viewed here.
